Honda Civic 4th Generation (1987-1991)

The 4th generation Civic continued the same design theme as the 3rd generation but with a few more curves.

Available in 3 door hatchback, 4 door saloon and 5 door Shuttle body styles, there are 3 UK specifications GL, 1.6i16v and 1.6iVT. The GL is available with a 1.4 16 valve injection engine. The 1.6i16v is, predictably, a 1.6 16 valve injection engine and the 1.6iVT is the first incarnation of Honda’s VTEC technology in the Civic.

All models except the 1.6i16v and 1.6iVT hatchbacks were available with automatic transmission as well as manual. The Shuttle 1.6i16v is also available with automatic transmission.

The Shuttle is available with Honda’s permanent all wheel drive system, the AWD Shuttle models are only available with the 1.6i16v engine.

Apart from the Shuttle version mentioned above, only the 3 door hatchback is available with the 1.6i16v and 1.6iVT engines.
